Swap-o-rama

The Swap-o-rama-rama was my favorite Americorps service project of the year.  It was organized by Monica through Impact Silver Spring, and basically it was a huge clothing swap.  People came in with their unwanted clothing, which we divided into categories and laid out on tables around the room. After dropping off their clothing, participant could browse around and pick up new things for their wardrobes. In addition, there was a sewing/altering station where clothing could be modified and a fabulous fashion show were people could show off their new outfits.  I had great fun helping people find and create “new” clothing and even picked up some items for myself!

As part of Project Change, we wrapped presents to give to underpriviliged children who lived in the housing projects supervised by Montgomery Housing Partnership.  We helped collect and classify the gifts according to appropriate age categories and then had them wrapped and labeled to be distributed to the families.
